Most of the above paintings are small and painted on metal. Cathy Germay did this for a reason. She is inspired by, and enjoys looking at Mexican Retablos.
Mexican Retablos are small (usually no larger than 11"x14"), religious paintings on tin, usually painted by an amateur painter. The scenes show tragedies that someone survived or overcame through their faith in their creator. After the person survived their tragedy, they would commission a painting to be done depicting the scene. These served as devotional paintings and were painted to give thanks to a saint. Usually, the saint they are thanking appears in the upper hand corner of the painting sitting in clouds.
To pay homage to this tradition, Cathy Germay chose a smaller format and painted on metal
